After the violent loss of her father, Ali’s world began to unravel. Grief took deep root in her young heart, and her mother,  felt overwhelmed and unsure how to help her daughter through the pain.

Through Mission Family, this mother and daughter encountered something their family desperately needed: the healing truth of God’s Word. As they were lovingly accompanied, they began to understand that their suffering was not a sign of God’s abandonment. In Jesus, they discovered a Father who comes near to the brokenhearted, brings comfort in sorrow, and restores hope.

That truth began to change everything.

Wendy found the courage to face wounds from her own past, while Ali began to understand the sadness behind her behavior and to experience the love of God as a source of peace, comfort, and identity.  Together, they started walking a path of healing, learning to process grief, express emotions in healthy ways, and move toward forgiveness and restoration.

Today, the fruit is evident. Wendy says Ali is now calm, loving, and affectionate, and their relationship has grown close and tender. The family is also now connected to a local church, where their faith continues to take root. Wendy herself has begun to dream again, preparing for Colombia’s high school equivalency exam as she hopes to pursue nursing studies in the future.

And in one simple sentence, Ali captured the heart of this transformation: “The best part of hearing about God is that I get to have Jesus in my heart, and that changed everything for us! Now I can dream.”

By God’s grace, what could have become a story of deeper brokenness is now a story of restoration, hope, and new life in Christ. Thank you for helping make this kind of Gospel-centered care possible.

Please continue praying that many more children and families will encounter the love of Jesus through Mission Family.
