Friends of Hope is Conviventia’s child sponsorship program in Colombia. For $36 a month, you come alongside a student through prayer, encouragement, and support for a Christ-centered education.
Your sponsorship is connected to a specific child while also strengthening the caring system around them: their school, teachers, and family. We believe children flourish when they are seen, valued, and equipped within strong relationships.
Your sponsorship helps provide accredited, Christ-centered education and the holistic support children need to grow with purpose. This includes caring teachers and educational professionals, spiritual formation, social-emotional support, health and nutrition promotion, safe learning environments, and family-strengthening efforts.
Sponsorship funds are not given directly to a child or family as cash. They are managed through Conviventia and used to support the child’s education and wellbeing through the school- and family-centered programs that serve them.
This approach protects children, promotes accountability, and helps ensure support is delivered fairly and responsibly.
The cost of providing a child with accredited Christian education and holistic support is set in Colombian pesos, so its U.S.-dollar equivalent varies with exchange rates. Based on Conviventia’s annual budget, a $36 monthly sponsorship covers approximately 30% of the average cost of supporting one student.
Together with the family’s contribution and support from churches, donors, grants, and other partners, your sponsorship helps make a full circle of care possible around that student.
Yes, whenever possible. Each family’s contribution is determined individually, according to its capacity. We believe parents are central to their children’s growth, so sponsorship comes alongside a family’s effort; it does not replace it.
Friends of Hope serves children in vulnerable communities across Colombia, including Ciudad Bolívar in Bogotá, Altos de Cazucá in Soacha, El Pozón in Cartagena, Las Américas in Barranquilla, and communities in the Department of La Guajira.
Yes. Friends of Hope is designed to connect you with a specific student so you can pray for, encourage, and follow their journey over time. Your sponsorship remains part of the broader support system surrounding that child, their family, and school.
Our team makes each match thoughtfully, with the hope that every child can be known and supported. You are welcome to share preferences, such as age, gender, or location, and we will consider them whenever possible. Final placement is guided by the needs of the program and our commitment to protect every child’s dignity.
You will receive regular student and school updates throughout the year. These may include reports, letters, drawings, photos, and broader program news.
Sponsors are welcome to send messages of encouragement, prayer, and appropriate news from their lives. Conviventia facilitates all communication to ensure it remains safe, culturally appropriate, and encouraging.
Child protection comes first. Conviventia facilitates communication through approved channels to protect children, families, and sponsors. Direct communication through personal email, social media, messaging apps, or other private channels is not permitted.

Our Escuela con Propósito education model equips students academically, spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and physically. We do not replace families; we equip them to continue fulfilling their essential role.
Yes. Conviventia is a Christian organization. Our schools integrate biblical values, spiritual formation, pastoral care, and a worldview that affirms every child’s God-given dignity, identity, and purpose.
Sponsorship gifts are recorded, designated, and reviewed through defined financial processes in the United States and Colombia. Conviventia also follows child-protection and data-privacy procedures in all sponsor communication.
Yes. The simplest and safest option is to make a monetary contribution to an approved gift fund for occasions such as birthdays or Christmas. Conviventia can purchase and distribute gifts appropriately in Colombia, avoiding customs, shipping, and safety concerns while promoting fairness among students.
We hope sponsors will walk alongside their student for as long as possible, ideally through graduation. However, we understand that circumstances can change. Please let us know as soon as possible, and we will begin seeking another sponsor so the child’s educational process can continue without interruption.
