Why Family and Community Leadership?

At Conviventia, we believe education alone is not enough—children thrive when their families are strong and their communities are whole. That's why we invest in equipping families to build homes centered on God's truth, grace, and purpose. Through faith-based training and community support, our Family Program fosters healing, spiritual growth, and restored relationships. As families are transformed, they become a powerful influence for good nurturing their children and serving as a light to those around them.

Family Crisis Intervention

Families going through crises tend towards disintegration. We have developed teams of crisis intervention specialists who help families overcome the difficulties they are facing and come out stronger than ever on the other side. The net result is that we see more children having both parents in their lives, greater economic stability, lower drop-out rates, and more cohesive communities.

School for Parents

Children from homes with absent, dysfunctional, or abusive parents don't automatically learn healthy parenting skills for when they get older and become parents. This means that even the most well-intentioned parents often need help. To meet that need, we offer a series of parenting courses and workshops designed to equip parents with the skills they need to care for their children, foster environments where children are safe, and break free from generational failings.

Community Leadership Training

Using a curriculum based on a Christian worldview, we offer training opportunities to community members that encourage them to adopt a code of ethics and moral guidelines that are consistent with biblical teachings. This, in turn, strengthens communities by providing capable and responsible leaders who contribute to social wellbeing and sustainable community transformation.

From Survival to Stability: A Migrant Family Finds Hope on a
Hillside in Bogotá

Seven years ago, the Abreu family fled Venezuela, driven by the country's deepening economic and political crisis. Carrying little more than uncertainty and a flicker of hope, they arrived in Colombia—strangers in a new land. Life in Bogotá was anything but easy. Like many migrant families, they started from scratch, grappling with instability, daily survival, and the emotional weight of displacement.

They eventually settled in an improvised shack on a hillside in downtown Bogotá—a precarious setting that only intensified their vulnerability. Beneath the surface, their home life was strained by unspoken disconnection and unclear family roles that were affecting their children's development.

That's when Mission Family stepped into their story.

"It was a direct answer from God," says the mother of the household. From the very first session, the family began to shift. With Mission Family's guidance, they learned to pause the rush of survival to create intentional moments together.

They began speaking to each other with love, setting healthy boundaries with respect, and rediscovering the power of unity—and faith. Their transformation has been both spiritual and practical. Today, the Abreu family is not only rebuilding their home—literally laying its foundations—but also investing in a small pig-farming project to support their income. Yet, their greatest gain has been the new way they live and love as a family, with God at the center.

"Thanks be to God for sending us the Mission Family team," they say. "They left us with teachings that didn't just change our days—they'll guide our journey for the rest of our lives."
