Working Toward a World Where All People Can Live in Freedom with Dignity and Integrity
Who We Are
We are a Christian development and relief organization committed to breaking cycles of poverty in Colombia. We pursue this commitment through strategic programs inspired by our faith, energized by our commitment to empower others and guided by our vision for the sustainable transformation of entire communities.
We pursue the fulfillment of our mission by implementing a multi-dimensional strategy that focuses our efforts on four distinct but complementary domains: children and youth, family and community leadership, economic development, and humanitarian aid.
A Brief History
Conviventia was founded on the work initiated by Lindsay and Denise Christie, missionaries to Colombia from New Zealand. The Christies established the Christian magazine Desafio and launched the Center for Christian Counseling (Centro Cristiano de Consejeria) and the first God is Love schools (Colegio Dios es Amor) in Bogota and Soacha. Following the death of Lindsay Christie in 1994, his daughter Missy Christie de Acosta assumed leadership of the organization and established the Corporacion Dios es Amor in 1996, which was renamed Conviventia in 2016.
Currently, Conviventia continues working to advance God's Kingdom in Colombia by nurturing children through Christ-centered education, strengthening families, caring for basic needs through humanitarian aid, and equipping individuals to overcome poverty with vocational training, job mediation, and tools for entrepreneurs. At the heart of our mission is the call to be reconciled with God—because only through a restored relationship with our Creator, can true transformation, purpose, and flourishing be sustained.
